The Island Villa Stays

The Islands Villa Stays is a villa renovation project by Tata Tata Architects in Menggalung, Kuta Mandalika, Lombok. Working with limited space and a carefully considered budget, the design began with understanding the existing property—identifying what could be preserved, what needed improvement, and where changes would bring the most value.

Like surgery, renovation requires precision. This approach guided decisions about demolition and the adaptation of existing spaces to accommodate three bedrooms, a private pool, and a shared lounge. Preserving useful elements allowed the design to focus on improvements that support everyday comfort, privacy, and time spent together.

Warm terracotta tones, natural textures, and bamboo elements give the villa a modern tropical character. Simple materials and locally inspired details bring warmth to the spaces while connecting the design to its Lombok setting. Through careful choices about what to retain, adapt, and introduce, The Islands Villa Stays explores how an existing property can accommodate new needs while making the most of the available space and budget.
