D+S House Kateng, Lombok

D+S House is a completed two-storey residence in Kateng, Central Lombok, Indonesia, designed by Tata Tata Architects. The project brings together modern residential architecture, landscaped outdoor spaces, and shared living areas organised around a swimming pool.

The layout separates guest reception, family activities, and private rooms. The family room, dining area, and kitchen connect with the pool terrace, creating a central setting for everyday life and gatherings. Outdoor seating, a deck, and garden paths extend these activities beyond the interior.

The façade is defined by solid geometric volumes, recessed balconies, and tall glazed openings. Deep wall frames provide depth and shade to portions of the windows, while perforated screens balance openness with privacy. Pitched roofs and projecting eaves complement the building’s horizontal composition.

Cream and grey surfaces, textured walls, stone accents, and dark window frames establish a restrained material palette. Planting softens the building edges, while steps and landscaped banks connect the driveway, entrance, and garden levels.

Large windows maintain visual connections between the interior, pool, and surrounding greenery. These relationships give the house a consistent connection to its outdoor spaces while accommodating the different needs of family life.
